The Lincoln Days Circuit
An excellent week on the campaign trail, despite some nastiness by our opponent.
We had meet & greets in Montpelier, Ucon, and Ammon. We want to thank everyone who took the opportunity to come by and meet Josh, ask good questions, and help us better understand the needs of our district. Jon Goode and Josh even knocked on some doors in Montpelier, despite the snowflakes that were coming down around us. We heard some similar concerns again: record growth, rising costs, and protecting Idaho values.
Not fooling around.
Josh spent several days on the road this week, and got to connect more with the southern part of our district. We had an excellent meet & greet at Inkom city hall on Monday, which is a beautiful building. We got to hear some of the challenges that they face in the Marsh Valley School district, and the effect growth is also having on their community. Big thanks to our hosts.
Campaign Karaoke Night
This was a week chock full of opportunities to collaborate with hard working people from throughout the state.
We’ve been from Soda Springs to Driggs again this week, talking with multitudes of citizens all over the district. We had great discussions about doing more to trust our local residents, local governments, and local librarians...
We have seen the signs!
We had a couple real high points on the trail this week. On Wednesday, we were delighted to be hosted by Jon & Amy Landers. We had a fantastic turnout and got to have some very meaningful conversations about education, mental health, overcoming extremism, and responsible growth. It was delightful to meet a Hillcrest Highschool junior there, Caleb, who currently serves on the State Superintendent’s Student Advisory Board.
A week of excellent opportunities!
Josh was able to attend a campaign kickoff event for Stephanie Mickelsen, a candidate from the new district 32 who we are happy to support. She did an excellent job introducing herself as a woman committed for many years to public service, and someone who understands how different Bonneville County is now, versus the nearly 40 years ago when she started farming with her husband. It was a great event, and we made some excellent contacts with constituents in Bonneville and Teton counties.
Doing the Idaho values work.
Josh was able to attend a meet & greet event in Rigby for Jerald Raymond, a candidate from the new district 31 who will do a great job. He answered some excellent questions, and made a good case for why he is running to overcome some of the extremism being fostered by the Idaho Freedom Foundation candidates. Jerald cares a great deal for Education, Agriculture, and the people that make Idaho great.
